
JOB DESCRIPTION FOR PHARMACY DISPENSER
Job Summary:
The pharmacy dispenser is responsible for accurately dispensing prescribed medications, providing excellent customer service, and ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations. He/she reports to the pharmacist and the pharmacy manager for issues concerning quality and finance respectively.
Responsibilities:
Medication Dispensing:
- Accurately interpret prescription orders and dispense medications following established protocols.
- Label and package prescriptions appropriately.
Customer Service:
- Provide exceptional customer service by addressing inquiries and concerns.
- Offer guidance on medication usage and potential side effects.
- Be polite and kind to their customers
Inventory Management:
- Monitor and manage medication inventory levels.
- Place orders for medication replenishment as needed.
Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and pharmacy policies.
- Maintain accurate records of dispensed medications.
- Respect SOS children’s villages policies: code of conduct, child and youth safeguarding policy, PSHEA, etc
Collaboration:
- Work collaboratively with pharmacy staff, healthcare providers (Physicians, PA, Nurses and Nurse aids, etc) and other team members.
- Participate in team meetings and training sessions.
Quality Assurance:
- Perform routine quality checks to ensure the accuracy and integrity of dispensed medications.
- Report any discrepancies or issues promptly to pharmacist and/or pharmacy manager.
Patient Education:
- Educate patients on proper medication usage, potential side effects, and any other relevant information.
- Address patient queries regarding medications.
