
JOB DESCRIPTION
Position: Medical doctor (General practitioner)
Location: SOS Medical Center
Department: Medical
Reports To: Clinical manager
Overview:
The Medical Doctor is responsible for providing medical care, treatment, and advice to patients. He/she works collaboratively with other healthcare professionals to ensure the delivery of high-quality patient care and adhere to medical standards and ethical principles.
Responsibilities:
Patient Care and Treatment:
Conduct thorough medical evaluations and assessments of patients.
Diagnose medical conditions based on symptoms, medical history, physical examinations, and diagnostic tests.
Develop and implement personalized treatment plans for patients, including prescribing medications, and other interventions.
Monitor and manage the ongoing medical treatment and progress of patients.
Provide guidance and education to patients and their families regarding their medical conditions, treatments, and preventive healthcare measures.
Collaboration and Coordination:
Work closely with other healthcare professionals including specialists, physician assistants, nurses, and dispensers to coordinate patient care.
Consult and collaborate with other physicians to ensure comprehensive and integrated healthcare services for patients.
Participate in daily medical meetings, case conferences, and medical rounds to discuss patient care plans and outcomes.
- Documentation and Record-Keeping:
Maintain accurate and detailed medical records of patient consultations, diagnoses, treatments, and outcomes.
Ensure full compliance with medical ethics, record keeping and documentation, and all regulatory requirements in the Republic of Liberia.
Ethical and Professional Conduct:
Adhere to medical ethics, standards of practice, and legal regulations governing healthcare delivery in Liberia.
Demonstrate professionalism, compassion, and empathy in interactions with patients, families, and colleagues.
Respect SOS Children’s Villages policies including code of conduct, child protection, etc.
Qualifications:
- Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) degree from an accredited medical school.
- Valid medical license by the Liberia Medical and Dental Council (LMDC) to practice or deliver healthcare services.
- Clinical skills, diagnostic proficiency, interpersonal communication, teamwork, and decision-making abilities.
- Basic computer knowledge: word, Excel, Powerpoint etc.
Working Conditions:
Environment: Work primarily in clinical settings such as hospitals, outpatient clinics, etc.
