For 18 years, Jugbeh has been more than just a caregiver — she has been a mother, mentor, and pillar of strength for over 20 children at SOS Children’s Villages in Liberia. Through laughter and life lessons, she has dedicated her life to providing a loving home for children who needed it most.
Challenges, Triumphs, and Endless Love
When Jugbeh first stepped into the SOS Children’s Village, she knew she wasn’t just taking a job — she was embracing a lifelong calling. From first steps to first heartbreaks, she has stood by her children through every milestone.
“I came thinking I was here to teach the children, but over the years, they have taught me just as much —like how to sleep with one eye open!”
Raising 20 children is no small feat. From managing school schedules to settling sibling disputes, Jugbeh has seen it all. But through every challenge, she has found joy in the little moments — the laughter at the dinner table, the pride of a graduation day, and the simple “Thank you, Ma” from a grown child who returns to visit.
“Some days, I feel like a referee in a football match—blowing the whistle between who gets the last piece of chicken! But at the end of the day, love is the glue that keeps us together.”
The Legacy of a Mother’s Love
Jugbeh’s greatest reward is seeing her children grow into confident, independent young adults. Many have gone on to pursue careers, reunite with biological families, and give back to their communities — all carrying the lessons and love she instilled in them.
“I may not have given birth to them, but they are all my children. And when they succeed, I celebrate like any proud mother would — with dancing, singing, and sometimes a few happy tears!”
