Growing up at SOS Children’s Village in Monrovia, Liberia, Antoinette carried a dream that stretched far beyond her surroundings. She believed education could impact her life — and she refused to let circumstances define her future.
With the support of SOS Children’s Villages in Liberia and her relentless determination, Antoinette earned a life-changing scholarship to United World College in Norway. What began as a bold step into an unfamiliar terrain became the foundation for an even greater opportunity: admission to Methodist University in the United States.
The journey was not easy. She faced cultural adjustments, academic pressure, and moments of uncertainty. Yet through every challenge, she remained focused on the future she envisioned for herself and her family.
“Coming from Liberia, I knew I had to work twice as hard, not only for myself, but for every child back home who believes their dream is possible,” says Antoinette.
On April 25, 2026, Antoinette proudly graduated from Methodist University with a degree in Exercise Science and Kinesiology — a milestone that once felt impossible but became a reality through resilience, discipline, and hope.
“This journey gave me more than a degree; it gave me confidence, purpose, and the courage to believe that my story is bigger than my struggles,” she reflects.
Antoinette’s story is proof that when opportunity meets determination, extraordinary things can happen.
“I want young people, especially girls growing up in difficult circumstances, to know this: your beginning does not determine your ending. Keep believing, keep pushing, and never stop dreaming,” Antoinette shares.
From the heart of Monrovia to a graduation stage in the United States, Antoinette’s journey is more than a personal achievement — it is a story of hope, transformation, and the power of investing in children and young people.
