
Monrovia, Liberia, 05 May 2025 – In a high-level engagement aimed at advancing Liberia’s national child protection agenda, Mr. Elber Nosolini, Acting National Director of SOS Children’s Villages in Liberia, presented the organization’s new 5-year strategic plan to His Excellency Joseph Nyuma Boakai, Sr., President of the Republic of Liberia, during a meeting at the Executive Mansion. The meeting marked a renewed commitment to systemic reform in child protection, youth empowerment, and family strengthening in Liberia.
The high-level meeting centered on presenting “A Bold Vision for Liberia’s Children” and the SOS Children’s Villages in Liberia’s 5-year roadmap to support vulnerable children, young people, and families.
The discussions also explored opportunities to scale community-based services, reinforce child safeguarding systems, and collaborate on youth development and family strengthening initiatives. Mr. Nosolini reaffirmed SOS Children’s Villages’ long-standing commitment to the well-being of children, especially children who lost parental care or are at risk of losing parental care, and pledged the organization’s readiness to serve as a technical support, offeringt policy collaboration, and innovative programming to help the country deliver on its goals for children and young people.
During the meeting, Mr. Nosolini commended the Government of Liberia for its proactive efforts to address the plight of children living in street situations. He emphasized the importance of building resilient families and empowering young people as key strategies for sustainable national development.
President Boakai Commends Ongoing Support for Children
Meanwhile, President Boakai expressed heartfelt appreciation for the work of the SOS Children’s Villages in Liberia, highlighting its vital role in child development and community empowerment. Reflecting on his personal visit to the SOS Children’s Village in Juah Town, Grand Bassa County, he remarked, “I visited the SOS facility in Grand Bassa and was impressed by the level of work being done to support Liberian children.”
He further praised the organization for its continued contributions to Liberia’s development, affirming his government’s commitment to strengthening the partnership. “We welcome your work and will support you in every way possible,” President Boakai said, encouraging close collaboration with the Ministry of Gender, Children & Social Protection to advance shared goals

In response, Mr. Nosolini acknowledged the President and the people of Liberia for their unwavering support, and emphasized that SOS Children’s Villages’ new strategy is anchored in evidence-based practice, partnerships, and sustainability.
“This is a critical moment to ensure no child is left behind. Our strategy is designed to expand our reach, strengthen national systems, and invest in sustainable solutions that empower families and communities,” he noted. “We are eager to build on our long-standing relationship with the Government of Liberia and expand our reach to ensure we reach many more children,” Mr. Nosolini stated.
The engagement marks a renewed era of collaboration between SOS Children’s Villages and the Government of Liberia — grounded in shared values, national priorities, and a vision of inclusive, child-centered development.
